The museum and its stories

About real animals, or maybe not…

EXPERIENCE FOR: PRIMARY SCHOOLS AND SECONDARY
SCHOOLS SUBJECTS: ART APPRECIATION, HISTORY, ITALIAN, CREATIVE STORYTELLING

Starting from a reading of the children's book "New scandal in Tuscany. The adventures of the Cinta piglet” in a Florentine masterpiece by N.S. Howard - author of books for children interested in art - we find out that works of art tell stories which can be retold in a personal key. This museum experience links literature and visual art, narration as knowledge and communication. The observation of the real and symbolic animals in Benozzo Gozzoli’s frescoes provide the key for reinterpreting the stories, from new and unprecedented points of view.

Thanks to the contemporary art exhibition PassionArti, the Benozzo Gozzoli Museum has acquired works by prominent artists on the international contemporary art scene, such as Omar Galliani, Francesco Musante, Rudy Pulcinelli and Aviero Bargagli.
By adopting the storytelling method associated with the observation of artworks, emphasis is placed on the talent everyone possesses, enabling them to invent and narrate stories, regardless of their experience and socio-cultural background.
Imagination and creativity are the tools we use to create stories as a group, starting from the contribution each individual is able to make.
